The mix-ups that cost points
Some terms sound so close that it is easy to pick the wrong one under time pressure. Learn them as pairs.
| Pair | How to tell them apart |
|---|---|
| Mortgagor vs mortgagee | The mortgagor is the borrower, who gives the mortgage. The mortgagee is the lender, who receives it. |
| Grantor vs grantee | The grantor gives the title in a deed. The grantee receives it. |
| Joint tenancy vs tenancy in common | Joint tenants have the right of survivorship, so a share passes to the other owners. Tenants in common do not, so a share can pass to heirs. |
| Void vs voidable | A void contract has no legal effect from the start. A voidable contract is valid unless the party with the right chooses to cancel it. |

FAQ
Questions, answered
Which real estate exam does this cover?
The national portion of the salesperson exam. In most states it is written by PSI or Pearson VUE from a published outline and has 80 scored questions. 47 states and DC use one of those two vendors. Your state law portion is separate, and the kit includes a state lookup to point you to it.
Is Real Estate Made Simple affiliated with PSI, Pearson VUE or my state?
No. Made Simple guides are independent study aids. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any testing vendor, state commission or professional association.
Does the kit cover the math?
Yes. Real Estate Math, Worked Out has 25 worked examples and a 40-problem review. Math is about 8% of the national outline weights, and the steps matter as much as the answer.
What do I get, and what does it cost?
Three digital PDFs sized for a phone: Real Estate Concepts Illustrated (131 pages plus a state lookup), Real Estate Math, Worked Out, and a 100-term illustrated glossary. The launch price is $27, a one-time payment with no subscription, with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
